for pictures of the event.
A special thanks goes out to those who participated in the low-key OPEN
class thermal duration contest. According to the score sheets, the
last event held by the SCTS was back in Oct., 1997. The field of
flyers consisted of Joe Perrone, Sal Barbagallo, Gene Sellers, Bob Crane and
Kurt Zimmerman. It became quite clear that the entire field of flyers
can't hit the broad side of a barn when it comes to landing. The day
was overcast, very humid. Thermal activity was very light but there
was lift to be found. Surprisingly the club equipment held up and
worked flawlessly. There were no major mishaps as everyone had a good
time. At the end of the event there was an overwhelming response to
hold another event before the end of the flying season.
The round by round results can be found on the link to the left of this
page.

September 11, 2005 - Low-key OPEN class thermal duration contest. This
was not a good day for the club equipment. There were many line breaks
both winch & retriever. We only managed to get 2 rounds of flying
in. See the link above for the results of the day. Also see the Photo
Gallery for some candid pictures taken by Jessica & Alexis
Zimmerman.
- October 2, 2005 - OPEN class thermal duration contest "Frost on the Pumpkin
glider fest" . See the Photo Gallery
for some candid pictures taken by Alexis Zimmerman (age 10).
Commentary soon to come.
- October 30, 2005 - SCTS Club meeting. Minutes of the meeting
can be found on the link to the left of this page.
- Glider Dayz - First Sunday of the month except for holiday weekends where
it will be the second Sunday. The purpose of Glider Dayz is to promote
thermal duration glider flying off of winches or high-starts. The
format can include anything from working on LSF requirements to a
contest. The format is to be determined by event
coordinator. Event is open to ALL SCTS members and guests.
- Electric Glider Sundays - Second Sunday of the month. We will have an all up last down (open) event on October 9th.
This can be s400, 7 cell and 10 cell classes. Mass launch and spot
landing with a 30 minute task. Further details to come.
